Today the EU will debate the use of ROBOTS in society. They are particularly concerned with issues of safety and responsibility as well as the socio-economic impact that robots will have.

Investigate the issues around the rise in ‘robotic’ technology and write up your results in your book, as an essay style answer.

You are going to take a short quiz based on your knowledge of html.

Click the link to take you to the Socrative website after you have finished reading the instructions.

On the website you should enter the ‘room name’ where the quiz is located. Type MRBARNARD (with no spaces) and press JOIN ROOM.

You will see 15 questions on HTML – some are very simple, others require you to look in detail.

  1. You must NOT open any of your HTML files whilst doing the quiz.
  2. You should work ALONE in answering the questions.

Today you will practice some spreadsheet skills using Microsoft Excel.

Being able to use a spreadsheet is an essential ICT skill but could also help you to:

  • produce charts (for science homework
  • check your maths homework
  • keep lists and be able to organise them (perhaps of books you have read and their authors)

You will be aware that today is Election Day in the UK.rosettes

For those people unable to vote in person we have a PROXY voting system.

For the following question makes sure you keep a list of the URL (web address)

  • Explain the term PROXY in this case (be careful in computing it has a different meaning)

We now have a POSTAL vote option, whilst some countries have moved to ONLINE voting.

  • Produce a list of countries that use online voting.
  • Explain the ADVANTAGES and DISADVANTAGES of an online system such as this.
